Scooter, a former bait dog, was discovered in distress on a quiet road in York County, SC, by a local resident. Even in his state, Scooter managed to wag his tail. Quick action from Animal Control, rushing him to emergency vet care, likely saved his life.
Scooter's initial condition and the extent of his wounds presented an unparalleled sight in over 5 years of rescue work. Throughout his ordeal, he remained a resilient and gentle soul, undeterred by his painful past. Facing the possibility of euthanasia, WOFAR, working closely with York County, stepped in to rescue Scooter.
Today, Scooter stands as a testament to the resilience found in rescue—living his best life, a symbol of hope and healing!
Scooter’s Story
In the world of rescue, some dogs just grab your heart, and Dobby was one of those special ones. Found on the side of the road in a crate too small for him, his legs showed signs of neglect. A mix of basset and pit, Dobby had a basset body and a pit head. Despite his severe leg issues, he was a happy, pain-free boy.
When discovered, Dobby was emaciated, just skin and bones. After overcoming critical health challenges, an orthopedic consult hinted at a 50/50 chance of success in fixing his back legs surgically. Opting for a gentler approach with joint supplements, Dobby, not destined for marathons, became a wonderful lap dog, enjoying leisurely walks and playful moments with toys.
